Tropico 5 Release Date Announced For Mac
El Presidente Reveals 2019 Release Date for Tropico 6 El Presidente, beloved leader of Tropico, has today announced that Tropico 6, the next instalment of the critically acclaimed dictator sim, will release worldwide for PC in January 2019, with the.
Oct 25, 2018 10:43 AM It seems to be “time to get back into the game” as El Presidente returns for another year of semi-democratic construction and management simulation. There is sure to be plenty of satire and poking fun at the current political climate; easy to do these days but no less hilarious when found in a game. Especially with the comment about a requested night off and getting two hours instead like it was some sort of philanthropic favor; there is surely a Tweet from the current US President stating something similar. In fact, we actually see El Presidente using “Spitter” in the PS4 reveal trailer (above), obviously taking a jab at our current president. At the end of the trailer, you can see the ruler flipping off a switch that says “El Presidente’s Crowd” — obviously another jab at #45.
Hopefully, you can make your Tropico have a better ruler. Hopefully, we’ll get a good look at gameplay sooner rather than later, as Tropico 5 was definitely hit or miss. Tropico 6 certainly looks promising, and it couldn’t come at a better time for U.S. But while we wait for the official release date, check out all of the confirmed release dates in our handy and you can also check out our most anticipated of 2018 here.
Tropico 5, the latest entry in the dictatorship simulation series you know and love, was officially released for Mac and SteamOS on September 19th. The game was developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media. Tropico 5 for Mac is packed with new gameplay features, artwork and the promise to take the experience to the next level. It also introduces cooperative and competitive multiplayer for the first time in the series’ history. While I liked Tropico 4, I felt it was missing some more depth to make it enjoyable in the long run.

Kalypso Media announced the good news while also explaining that the PS4 version will be delayed until 2015. Embrace your inner dictator and begin your dynastic rule as El Presidente, carefully plotting, coercing and glad-handing your way to complete control of the Tropical Isle, all while laying the framework of continued rule through the Eras with the all-new Dynasty System. As a side-note, I find it interesting that more and more developers are dealing with the Mac platform directly, instead of using porting companies such as Aspyr or Feral.

In this case, Tropico 3 and 4 were both ported by Feral Interactive, while Tropico 5 was handled directly by the original developer. This probably means less business for porting companies but on the upside, this could also mean more and more traditional developers realize the importance of MacOS and Linux ports. But could that be because of the promises of SteamOS? What’s your take?
